I know we're a real-estate-related community, and at first blush, this wouldn't look like a real-estate-related post. At first blush, I said...
The essence of buying a home is attraction. One neighbor told me that she made the decision to buy a particular house in our neighborhood because of a piece of rock art by Otto Krein, who made this hummingbird and lizard from scraps of leftover tile gathered at a builder's construction site.
Otto and his family lived here for more than a decade before moving back to Pennsylvania recently. While he was here, Otto worked for our HOA in landscape maintenance.
The boulders graced by his art are not in anyone's yard. They sit on streetcorners, and were initally intended to keep construction vehicles from cutting the corner too closely.
Otto knew that he could transform plain rocks into an attractive visual comment on our neighborhood of Tucson Estates II.
He did a great job, didn't he?
That cactus flower from my front yard is intended to attract you, the reader, to stop and stay for awhile.
Looks like it did the trick. :)

Mike ... thanks for this nice post and great photos ... your cactus at the top is wonderful and attracted me. Best wishes.
Mike: you always have great photos... more and people will be attracted to this area with all it's beauty...
Unique Look! Very attractive and serves a purpose. Great thinking!!
Mike,
Incredible!
The rocks are interesting, too.
If you're teaching real estate you could use your photos to teach the meaning of situs, location, location, location!
You could teach that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that one man's graffiti is another man's art.
Sales. explain we find what we seek! And, it's safe to judge a man by what he finds in life.
Religion, simply state: There is a God, behold! Then flash the top photo!
Once again, Thank You!
Bill

Ah See emotional response...just what I was telling someone on another post. Buyers have a lot of choice and it is a Buyers Market, but they also buy on emotional response :)...it is our job to find out what that emotional response is!
Anne,
It's good to see you! So much of life turns around emotion. That, and action! When am I going to see the cowboy blog?! Much success today.

Otto was one clever guy. He subtly set his yard apart. Sometimes it's the little subtle differences that provide the tipping point for buyers.
Yes the photo got me I do like the flowers from Cactus. What great way to recycle what would have ended up in the land fill.
Mike - you are an artist with your camera and your picture definitly attracted me to read your entire post. Cool rock art too.
Mike I'll be willing to admit I read the "whole thing" - he's quite a guy and artistic, Karen
Yes Mike it did the trick. My mother in law would just love this rock art. Can't wait to tell her about it. I know she's going to start cracking tile as soon as I tell her. That cactus flower in your yard looks dangerous and VERY beautiful.
Tammy,
I thought it might. LOL The cactus spines are three inches long, and alternate black and white. It's only dangerous if you sit on it. Send me your email address through AR, and I'll send a magnified view of the tile critters for her to work out.
Karen,
I'm so glad! Otto's going to be blushing when he reads all these flattering comments.
Judy,
Thanks for the encouragement. You can come visit any time!
Terry,
It's just fantastic!
Marlene,
The most interesting thing is that Otto didn't create these on the corners of his yard; he created them up and down a main road through the neighborhood called "Lone Star Drive."

You take the most interesting photos! And then use them so well.
Judi,
You leave the nicest comments! LOL There's something to blog about in any photo.

There was a huge feature article in our local paper in the last couple of weeks about places to drive around near Tucson to see Spring in bloom. Now, I don't have to make the drive! Thanks.
Nope, Mike - you didn't get me to fall for that old trick! I just skipped to the bottom first, and then read back to the top. LOL Either way, nice post! :)
Randy,
Whatever works! LOL
Ann,
Do you have crocus in the spring at your elevation?

Mike,
Your photos are sensational! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Great post!
Mike,
Deceptively beautiful and beautifully deceptive...!!! Thanks, Fran
Mike - great play on words pictures. You had me hooked! & your right, he did do a good job on those boulders!
So cool!!! I love the flower shot. Are you still using the same camera?
Doreen,
Still using the Lumix cheapie from Costco. Picasa by Google is the editor for the photos. So easy!
Kayla,
Isn't that just too cool?!
Fran,
Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I've been on your blog a lot lately.
Dorie,
Thank you!
