Arizona Wildlife: Sunday Afternoon Nap

Backyard on a Sunday afternoon: Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lender

~ Sunday Afternoon Nap at the Jones's ~

Nice, inviting backyard photo, right?  Look carefully at the center of the photo.  We have a visitor!  This yearling Mule Deer found a nice, shady spot.  She stayed there for the better part of half an hour, until her Momma came along and disturbed her rest.

Arizona's Tucson Mountains are home to Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer.  We see the mulies more often, though.

Mike, those are great shots!  If I remember right, the mule deer are more stocky than the whitetail deer?

Mike, Those are cool photos!  We used to see deer almost daily, but it has been awhile!

Bruce,

You're right.  Mulies are bigger and bulkier than the Whitetail Deer.

Tony & Darcy,

I looked out the bedroom window, and there they were!

Terrific photos as always - hope Ginny is doing well and that you had a good holiday.

Carolin,

Thanks for remembering Ginny!  She's recuperating much better than we expected.  She saw her doctor this morning, and he's both pleased with her progress and encouraging about her recovery.  Rotator cuff repair carries a long recovery period, but she's well on her way!

Mike - I like your pets, and I'm sure they appreciate the nice cool place to hang out.

Larry,

They cleared out when the coyote came by.  :)

Debra,

We love our backyard, and we're blessed to have so much wildlife nearby.

Dorie,

She sure felt comfortable in the shade.

Debra,

I just posted the coyote shot!

Mike,

When there's venison on the table I prefer well done. This is just a little to rare.

Bill,

LOL!  I have a photo of a mulie walking toward my Weber Grill, and I sent it to my brother-in-law, telling him that in Arizona, we train our venison to come to the grill.
