My Idea of a Nice Cabin In The Woods

My idea of a nice little cabin: Mike in Tucson

~ My Idea of a Nice Log Cabin ~

The photos aren't mine.  Somewhere during the course of the past decade, I came upon four photos of a log cabin that captured my imagination.  I printed them and put them on my Dream Board.  I fell in love with this cabin, and the feeling still persists.

I wish that I had spent more time researching the location.  I was going to come back to it the next day, and that was years ago.

  • Maybe you recognize it and can tell me where it is.
  • Maybe you were the listing agent at one time.
  • Maybe you are the listing agent now.
In any case, if you can answer "yes" to my "maybes," please call me.

Looks like somewhere in Colorado ...

Definitely not around here!

Cabin?    That is a Lodge!   Very nice!

Duplicate it somewhere, Mike... you can do it.

Shame you can't do a Google picture search on it.  It most certainly is unique.

That is beautiful. I would love living there full time with no phone or internet service. Just me, TLW, dog and guns!!

That is magical, Mike. I would love to live in a cabin just like that. Unfortunately, I have no idea where it is :)

Rebecca,

Me, too!  Thanks for stopping by.

Toni,

Isn't it?  Look at the size of those logs!

Richard,

I think you're right.

Broker Bryant,

That's the idea!

Jane,

Yes it is!

Fred,

Maybe someone will be able to identify the manufacturer; it has to be a kit house.

Virginia,

Thanks for being first to comment!  Don't you have mountains like that west of town?

Cool cabin! I stayed up in Beavers Creek (Okla, you're stomping ground) and they had log cabins similar to this one. Hope you find yours.

Good luck on your search.

In the woods or just a large parcel it looks like a dream home

Enjoy the day

The pines, surrounding area and cabin could be located in Chapparral Pines in Payson AZ.

GOOD MORNING MIKE!  Whew -- if you can dream it - you can build it - anywhere you'd like - if you can't find it! But sounds like Linda knows where it is!

Mike - we have no pine trees like that around here - the nearby mountains are red and rocky - the location does kind of look like an area about 30 miles south of Yosemite.

Mike, looks like a great getaway!  These homes are rare in our area.

Kay,

It sure does!  Thanks for commenting.

Virginia,

I need to go visit Yosemite.

Gabrielle,

Wouldn't that look nice on Mt. Lemmon?

Gabe,

I hope Leolinda's on target!

Leolinda,

Can you get the listing?  :)

Lou,

Thanks for stopping by to comment!

Judy,

Everyone seems to like it.  We all should have a Rain Camp there!

Mike, The construction looks a little like some of the log cabin kit homes I've seen advertised over the years.

Take a look at http://www.cariboucreekloghomes.com/index.html for example.

I've always thought that would be a really cool project for my "golden years".  Buy some acreage somewhere and have a nice little log cabin (or two or three) built on it.

Wow! No kidding! I love it! I could be happy there An a tin roof for concertos in the rain.

Mike -

It is easy to see why you kept those photos.  Thanks for sharing.
How amazing to see the tree trunks in such prominant display.

Have a happy day -

Mike, It does look like it would be in Colorado.  I saw lots of log cabins when we lived there but none like that!

Posted by Marchel Peterson, Spring TX Real Estate E-Pro (Results Realty) almost 7 years ago

Marchel,

If I had to bet, Colorado would be my first guess.

Lynn,

Thanks for stopping by to comment.

Michelle,

Yes, it is!

Doreen,

Ain't it grand!

Z,

If you find it, give me a call!

Bill,

I do like metal standing seam roofs.

CJ,

Thanks for the link.  I spent 20 minutes there.

So I posted this all the way back in 2011.  Yesterday, I received a message through the AR message board as follows:

"Hello Mike, I came across the photos of my idea of a nice log cabin. This cabin was built by my husband. Storm Carpenter of Storm Carpenter Log Homes. The cabin is located outside of John Day Oregon on a remote property. This is a guest house built using western juniper. So glad you appreciate his work. Babe Carpenter"

How awesome is that?!  I just called and left a message for Mrs. Carpenter saying "thank you," and asking to see more of his work.  Stay tuned!
