Found this in the desert. Wonder what it is? Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lenderThat's my hiking glove next to the rock for perspective.  I have big hands.  The exterior of this rock is melted, and at first, I thought it might be metallic.  It's not.

It's very dense and heavy.  The coloring looks like native copper, but it's not metal.

The world's full of mysteries, and I think I've found one.  Who has a geology degree?  Chime in!

Wow - I think you have come across something very interesting.  Maybe someone at a local University can shed some light on this.

Wow, Mike, it looks like a dinosaur's head sticking out of the ground.  But I have to say that I probably would have never noticed it. Did you call any of the local anthropologists?

We think you should ask Vegas Bob! Is there a college nearby that you can call on for answers?

I like your blog - very interesting!  Your an Indiana Jones - I want to see a pictures of the giant boulder chasing you! It looks beautiful out there.  CT is rather dreary on this late March day - expecting snow and rain. Booo!

Mike - I would indeed take it to a university and have somebody take a look at it! Most unusual!
