~ Rainy March Monday in the Desert ~
Oh, I know you like my colorful photos of the sunset with deep golds, reds and purples. THIS, however, is the type of evening that makes us dance in the desert. We dance in the rain!
I paid to run my car through the carwash this morning, and from the look of the sky above, I ought to do that more often. All told, this part of the desert gets about 12 inches of rain in a whole year. (I know, some of you in NJ got that much in the last two weeks. We have kids and grand kids back there.)
For those of you who take rain for granted, I'll include a sunset from January. Enjoy! I'll stick with the rain.
~ A Tourist Sunset ~
(Okay, I like it too...)

I don't know why, but one can smell the rain coming long before it arrives, here in the desert. My Darlin' just opened the door and exclaimed "It smells wonderful outside." Bet you can't say that in Pittsburgh. LOL
I think that tourist sunset is pretty incredible. Really amazing shot! Thanks
Mike, I remember when I first moved here and everyone said I'd learn to love the cloudy, rainy days. Having moved from the Chicago area where it was gray, cloudy, overcast, cold, and miserable with no sunshine for 135 days, I just laughed at them all. Wasn't it great just standing outside and watching the rain today? Okay, we're sick human beings, LOL.
I am from CT, and have no desire to see rain or snow in any hurry - I can now wait for 6 years for that kind of weather!
BUT, I LOVE your sunsets!
Dagny,
It makes me smile to read your comment. Thanks for the encouragement!
Juli,
No. We're desert rats. LOL
Karen,
The sky really gets that color sometimes. I used to think that skies like that were just Photoshop, but it's not so.

What a beautiful red, red sunset -- doesn't that mean a sailors delight not a desert delight? How about a picture of you dancing in the rain.

Sue,
Picture a slim walrus dancing, and you'll understand why you won't see photos of me dancing in the rain. LOL

In Baltimore,it rained and there was lightening this morning...but I still call it liquid sunshine. Enjoy your much needed rain. Now take some photos of the blooming desert.

We had rains back in December, and with the rain we're having now (it's still pouring at 9:00 pm) we ought to have some beautiful lupine and poppy field photos in a few weeks.

Your very welcome Mike and I almost featured your post to my rainy group because it also fit well with the title, but the clouds really made up my mind!
