Mike, Beautiful shot - it looks huge.  I was hoping you would get a photo because I can't see the moon for clouds.

What a beauty! I took a few photos of the moon but they look pretty ordinary...nothing spectacular like yours!

But I'll bet yours were taken over the water, weren't they?  That stuff's in short supply out here.  :)

Howdy and morning to you Mike

you sure were able to get a mighty fine shoot of the moon last night. For some reason it only looks a bit bigger than normal here at my house, I even live up on a mountain.

Have a good one

I love that picture! It was really awesome in the night sky here in Dallas too; how I was wishing I had a camera that would take the shot but no cigar. I will just have to enjoy yours, Mike.

Nice! In Mesquite Nevada tonight, and the clouds are floating around and thinning out. so I'm going back out there to gaze at the moon.

Hopefully I will be able to get out this morning and see it before it is gone.  Just hope the clouds from last nights storm are gone.

Amazing Mike, just amazing.  I sat outside and enjoyed the moon from my house, but I missed it over the horizon.  Glad you didn't.

Neat photo.  I saw another great photo of the moon last night on Flickr with the Lincoln Memorial.... we were clear.  I got to see it.  I took a photo..... I am no photographer.

Mike, we missed here in Central VA, I looked for it at the designated 7:30 is the best time and it was no where to be seen, then, I went to a play and when we came out it was high in the sky and very normal.  Thanks for sharing this photograph....I love the moon!

Posted by Navona Hart, Selling the Best Properties in Central Virginia (Real Living Cornerstone) over 9 years ago

Sorry you missed it!

I saw one on the Washington Post website with the Memorial in the background.  Wish we could still see it next to NY's Twin Towers...

The clear skies were touch and go for awhile there.

Don't we live in a beautiful world?

I didn't know you used to live here.  Thanks for stopping by!

It's good to see you!

I love it when you say "GOOD GRIEF."  :)

Did you get to see it?

It's beautiful; I hope you got to see it through the cloud cover.

I'm glad!  Right click and copy it; it's not copyrighted.

Mike, fantastic photo! I heard on the news yesterday evening that this is the closest the moon will get to the earth. Happens every 18 years. I believe they said it was 14% larger and 30% brighter. Good shot!

Mike when the moon in my area as well rose in the east over the horizon on Saturday evening, like your shot I was amazed. Very cool photo. Thanks.

I preferred the term perigee moon to more accurately describe what was going on.

Posted by Gary Woltal, Assoc. Broker Realtor SFR Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty) over 9 years ago

Great photo. I like it when trees are in front of the moon like that. We had to wait until it rose above the trees too. My husband kept coming out from watching basketball to check it out.

Hi Mike -- That is one WAY COOL photo. As a photography buff, I love looking at photographs, and this one is a gem.  It made me wonder what sounds were occurring out there, if there were any animals walking about, what the shadows on the landscape might be with that huge, full moon.

Mike, I knew the moon was going to be fabulous last night but forgot to go outside and capture the moment.

I've really been enjoying the moon these last few evenings. It does look yellower and brighter, when it rises. I guess 9 years from now it will be the farthest away on it's orbital path. I wonder if we'll notice that it looks smaller and duller?

Indeed WOW!  The best shot of the Super Moon I have seen.  Like right out of an Alfred Hitchcock or Steven King tale.  What camera and lens zoomed into that level.  It was overcast and cloudy here so I didn't even get to make a feeble attempt at a picture.
