The largest Gem & Mineral Show in the United States

Once a year, for two weeks in February, the world of rockhounds, diamond merchants, fine gem dealers, collectors of dinosaur bones and the odd geologist or two descend upon the city of Tucson, AZ for the annual Gem and Mineral Show.  The prices are amazingly cheap, by and large.  You can buy countless treasures for a dollar or two, or the 125 lb rock in the photo below for $15,750.

Things to do and places to visit ~ your bucket list...

February probably isn't your favorite time of year if you live in Canada, Alaska, or the northern half of the United States.  It's cold and snowy, and you're feeling a touch of cabin fever.

Pull out your calendar and write in a visit to Tucson next February.  Book early; the hotels fill up quickly.  ...and give me a call to let me know you're coming.  We'll have an Active Rain meetup!

One year, I tried getting a hotel room in Tucson when this event occured and the only hotel I could find was tucked away in the mountains at over $300 per night!

It's a big deal, and right after the Gem & Mineral Show is the Rodeo.  Tucson schools close down all week for the Rodeo!

One of my daughters teachers was really into "rocks" .  She was always attending these shows.  Schools close down for the Rodeo in Tucson.  Wow. Red Bluff is a big Rodeo town, but I don't think that the schools close down!

Aren't we blessed to live in Tucson?!

I hope you made it!  Much success today at Allstate!

That's the truth!

 I look forward to it!

There's always next year!

Wouldn't it be great to have a room full of AR friends we're meeting in person for the first time?!

I don't think I've ever been to Red Bluff.  It's on the list!

Vegas Bob,

...and you live in town that knows gems!
