A View From The Nest: Momma Owl's Perspective

Owl's eye view of the world: Mike in Tucson, Arizona mortgage lender

~ Momma Owl's Perspective ~

Every nest ought to have a view.  Mine does.  So does the hollow of this Mexican Blue Oak tree, scarred, scoured and burned out by lightning.  Lightning storms in the desert are fearful events.  I've watched a lightning strike devastate a hundred-year-old saguaro, leaving the green living cactus a burning stump.

The western screech owl knows nothing of the devastation that formed her protective home.  It's cool and dry in the hollow, and her babies will be secure in the darkness of the nest.  Life goes on.

Momma owl may not be so safe from the mortgage man who came on in with his camera to capture this really great shot :)

Mike - You are very generous to offer your beautiful photos. They are works of art and I hope that when someone uses one (or dozens) that they give credit to the artist! Beautiful shots.

I stood on the hillside and kept snapping photos of the storm until I caught the lightning strike.  Yes!
