I finally gave up my Blackberry, after having been a fan for two generations of that business-focused phone.
I had been considering the I-Phone. My choice of the Droid Pro gives me a business phone that incorporates the best features of Apple's phone and RIM's Blackberry.
It was our Information Technologies guy Ron Spiegel who made the recommendation of the Droid Pro, and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
Business Related Improvements
These are the business related improvements over the I-Phone and the Blackberry from my point of view:
1. Hard Keyboard and touchscreen combo. (This is what killed the IPhone for me. I was so used to the Blackberry's hard keyboard.)
It's a blend of touch screen technology and a hard keyboard. Motorola's keyboard is re-designed with ridges on the keys. It's a subtle thing that makes it easier to type on the keyboard.
2. Multiple Email accounts push automatically to the Droid Pro as they did on my Blackberry. Does the IPhone do that? I don't know.
3. PDF documents from Title are much easier to size and read than they were on the Blackberry, and then it's a breeze to forward them to my REALTORs and clients.
4. Apps and Widgets. The strong point (IMHO) of the IPhone is the library of applications. Blackberry missed the boat on the importance and usefulness of applications, and while my Droid Pro doesn't have the library of apps that Apple offers, it has what I need.
5. Last, and not least, the Droid Pro locks with the swipe of a finger across the screen before I put it in the holster. No more annoying female voice directing me to "Say a command..."

Mike, Great post! I am hoping Santa brings me a Droid this year.
I hear you on that "say a command" voice. When I had a Blackberry Storm I used to get so tired of hearing that.
Nice, I'm looking at Droid as well, but which one the X, 2 or HTC ????
I love my Droid. Have a 1st generation but it's still great !
Contemplating my options for new phone right now - I think I'm either going to go with the Droid Pro or X. Thanks a bunch for your review of the Pro!
Thanks for the input. I've been contemplating a change from my Blackberry Pearl to the Blackberry Torch. It looks like it may be pretty much the same as the Droid. Waiting for input from other users before taking the plunge.
Dennis,
You're welcome! That's what I did too.
Rhonda,
You're welcome!
D&D,
My first experience with a Droid was one of my realtor friends calling it the "Dreadful Droid." I haven't found that to be the case.
David,
Don't know! Good luck with your choice. I love the Pro.
Steve,
You and me both!
Jeremy,
Thanks for being the first to comment! Write Santa a nice letter... :)

Mike - I think the choices of phones are fantasic right now, and I am always interested in the results of this type of change. I switched from a treo to an Iphone two years ago and I thought the lack of a keyboard would be an issue. I was wrong, within a few days, you couldn't pay me to go back. One of the pleasant surprises was the durability of the iphone, and after replacing my previous phones several times due to a damage, I was expecting the worst. It didn't happen, One of my mortgage vendors gave me a rubberized skin for the back, and after 2 years of being dropped many times, It still looks new, and works every time.
Hi Mike, Still holding out on the Droid. I love my blackberry. Usually I opt for the latest technology but not this time. I will keep it in mind.
Mike - aren't new phones a lot of fun? I have a new iPhone and can no longer imagine life without it!
Howdy and afternoon to you Mike
Mike, usually I get into the high end technology stuff, but have not when it comes to cell phones. I still use a regular ole cell phone. Have fun with and enjoy your new one.
Have a good one

Mike, I just recently upgraded to an Android; the Sprint epic. I LOVE IT!! Like your droid my epic also has the slide out keyboard. To begin with I had to downgrade my MLS key to upgrade my phone. I was soooooooooo happy this week to find that the app was in for my android and I was able to connect my ekey to my phone once again. WOO HOO!
Mike
The new Droid Cell-phone are great and I have one as well and also would highly recommend the Droid.
Good luck and success.

Lou,
I expect that there are sites dedicated to Droid users ~ a forum, so to speak. I'll google that.
Marchel,
It just makes life a little nicer when you can consolidate. WOO HOO!

I got a new iPhone while in DC last October. I waited until I was there so my son (who has owned an iPhone for a couple of years now) could be my instructor and help set it up. It was a great experience and now I can't imagine life without my iPhone!
