Hi Mike, I would guess a Bobcat. They usually do not have ears that large.
Hi Mike, Are you going to tell us ? It could be a coyote ? They have ears like that. A great capture that obviously has it going in the right direction, LOL.
Interesting. I hope you'll tell us.
Hope you tell us-- no idea -- looks interesting. Another great Mike photo.
Very nice did God make his ears backwards? Or is he on to you.
My mother used to say she had eyes in the back of her head... and sometimes I swear she was right. Maybe this fellow is keeping up with you :)
Mike, looks to be a desert fox...
Randy, Maybe, just maybe, there be two critters? One with his/her head down and the other facing you?
Margaret
Mike,
That's funny because my dog can do pretty much the same thing with her ears. Looks a bit small for a coyote.
Rich
All,
Here's a photo just before she went over the hill.
I've got the answer and will post the front-on photo later.

It's like an ocelot... ears are marked to 'confuse' predators.
Hi Mike~
I know. I know. it's a wee coyote with ears turned to the rear...to listen to a photographer who is trying to seak up on her...without success!
A kit fox?
Hi Mike - it looks like a fox, great photo and look forward to seeing the front on photo.
Sharon,
The ears on this Coyote are on swivels!
Juli,
Nope! Although Kit Foxes have huge ears!
janeAnne,
Right you are!
Susie,

Thanks for sharing this ... I enjoyed trying to figure it out!!!

Poor thing looks like he's/she's starved - that's one skinny coyote.
Oh, but thanks for telling us. The spy in me kept looking at AZ mammals in the search engines, LOL
Well, I was thinking it looked like a coyote, but I did not know they could do that with their ears. Thanks for teaching me something new!
Hmmm - Swiveling ears. I once had a neighbor, with those. She heard and overheard everything. She was the town gossip:-)
WOW! I thought it was a fox too.
We do not see coyotes in our area, but she is a cutie!
your friend in Charlottesville
Wow! It's Wily Coyote! I, too, thought the little guy ws a fox.
So that is what a coyote looks like! thanks for sharing! I thought it was a fox too!!!!
I haven't seen a critter like that ever here in Manhattan, the closest I've come are a couple of rats down in the subway tracks!
Its probably listening to you as you took the picture making sure nothing sneaks up behind it, I'm glad my ears aren't that big!
Morgan,
That's exactly what he was doing!
Eileen,
You have coyotes in Central Park. They get more to eat, though.
Barbara Jo,
It's pretty thin as coyotes go.
Patricia,
Yes it is!
Charles,
You probably have them there, though...
Myrl,
Laughing Out Loud!
Doreen,
Until I saw the photo I'd taken, I didn't know it either!
Juli,
She could use a couple of good meals in a row.
Lori,
Good guess!

I had thought maybe it was a fox.
