"Open Range" Usually Means Cows...

Open Range: Mike in Tucson

~ Pinto and Baboquivari ~

South of State Highway 86 on Sunday afternoon west of Kitt Peak, cruising along at 35 mph, I had the windows down and my camera at the ready in my right hand.  Other than the occasional Border Patrol vehicle, I was the only car on the road.

Except for the pavement and the bulldozer marks behind this Pinto, this scene would have been no different were it back in the 1880s.

Come visit Arizona!  It's altogether a different world from the one you're used to.

Mike, I've never seen a horse strolling along the highway...you must keep you camera ready at all times :)

This was a drive specifically for the purpose of taking photos.  I do that about once a week.

Tony & Darcy,

There were four more horses just ambling down the road!

Mike - So the wild/open range horses are not spooked by cars or people?  I enjoy watching your canvas and the photos you use as your paint.....

Re the horse, apparently so.  Regarding your comment about my canvas and paint, thank you!  That's SO encouraging!  Thanks for saying so.

Nice photo, is it a horse or is it cow? Or is mix?

Good luck and success.

Hi Mike, You are absoluetly right. How cool is that! But irrespective of the grounds marks, it remains quite a beautiful photo.

OK, did you just get there at the exact right time or did you have to wait for the horse to get there?

You're welcome!  Isn't that a beautiful photo?

I am doing well, as a matter of fact.  Thanks for stopping by to comment.  AZ is definitely in the news!

I'm impressed!  That's quite a climb.

Did he show his papers?  :)

Barbara Jo,

We have water!

It was serendipity.  Just the right time.

It's a cow.  See that nice full udder?  :)

whyI have a photo from back in summer of 2000 when I first moved to Tucson.  It's a shot of "downtown" Why, AZ.  There's a long horn rambling through!!  My son and I got such a kick out of that.  We'd actually driven all the way to why just to pose by the sign!!!  I love your photos and the fact that you share them.  Thank you very much.
