Spectacular Weather Front At GlenMar Ranch, Caddo, OK

New construction in Caddo, Oklahoma

April sunset on GlenMar Ranch in Caddo, OklahomaFriday afternoon the Colonel picked me up at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Tucson was cold when I boarded the plane at 6:45 a.m., much colder than it had been only a day ago.  It was raining in Dallas when we landed, but as we drove up Interstate 75 and crossed the Red River into Oklahoma, the sky was clearing to the west.  To the east, however, that squall line you see above was forming as the sun set in the west.

The Colonel, retired USAF, spent a career flying military transports around the globe.  Looking out the window to the east, he commented that he'd never seen a cloud formation like this one.  The eastern sky was painted by the rays of the setting sun.  Here's the whole panorama.

Weather front east of Caddo, Oklahoma

On Saturday, we worked 150 cows, bulls and calves.  Nobody got hurt, so it was a great day on the ranch.

Good morning!  Thanks for stopping by to comment.

The sunset colors are beautiful, aren't they?  And the cloud structure, marching all in a line like soldiers, was something!

Good morning, and thanks for being the first to comment.   The weather ought to be good for finishing up the herd today.

I knew I could count on you for some great photos of the Caddo area.  Now all we need are so from the saddle looking down on them doggies.

Have a good time and be safe out there my friend.

Love the top photo the best, it's look like it was digitally enhanced, but I know it not.  Just spectacular colors.

Take a closer look at the bottom photo, left hand side, and you'll see the same colors.  When I zoom in to 12X, they become more vivid.  Good to see you; we didn't drive this year, so you didn't hear from us like you do when we drive through your fair city.

I've got some bull photos, and actually, some bull.  I'll share it with you later...

I love that cloud structure.

Hi Mike, How wonderful that you had the opportunity to capture these. There are places many of us have been over the course of our lives when we might have observed something like this but it was never captured. You did and bravo. It is certainly ripe with colors that are surreal and these are certainly keepsakes. Well done!

We've worked almost the entire herd of more than 200, and I'm happy to say that no one's been injured this year.  We'll be "back in the saddle" next Tuesday, the 13th.

I can't count the number of times I've been able to capture a moment because I was carrying the camera.  I love this one.

It's good to see you; thanks for commenting!

I do love it!  That house in the top photo is new construction since last year, a matriarch in her 80's who is planting a double row of live oaks that will mature in another 100 years from now.  I really enjoyed your optimistic post today.  Thank you!

Love the house in the top photo? Is it for sale? Looks peaceful there. But then again I probably couldn't handle the isolation. Hope you had a great Easter.

Mike - that is a very different cloud formation! You captured it beautifully in your photos ..... It almost looks like smoke blowing from a wild grass fire with the flames being reflected in the smoke.
