Champagne Marketing On a Beer Budget: Marketing That Surpasses The Masses

MJ Jensen, Chief Idea Officer

"Did I just say that?"  MJ Jensen smiled as she pointed to me and said  "Write that down.  That's good!"

"Marketing that surpasses the masses!"

She told me to write it down.  I did!

MJ Jensen is the Chief Idea Officer of her company, IdeaMagic Visionary Marketing.  Landmark Title invited her to present two hours of marketing ideas to a packed room of REALTORS and lenders.

I'm going to share her 10 points with you here on my blog.  For a more in-depth study, visit MJ Jensen's website, www.ideamagic.com.

1. State what business you're in in 15 seconds or less.

2. Create an image of quality.

3. Benefits (not features) win new clients.

4. Build visibility; become an expert in your industry.

5. Use the media as a win~win opportunity.

6. Advertise in, and write articles for [the same] newsletter, whether print or online.

7. Ask for referrals, and give [RESPA compliant] rewards for results.

8. Make it EASY to be your customer!

9. Get results from networking. Follow up 100% of the time.

10. Use Social Media to your advantage.

We had a blast!  Check out MJ's website to see her in action.

Hi Mike, Very good! It is almost back to the basics with a twist. Find out what they want and help them get it. ( Benefits and not features). Help enough and we get what  we want and every one wins.

Mike did you switch companies or is that a new logo?

I moved to Sunstreet Mortgage, LLC in July of 2009.

Among other things, she said "don't rely on the corporate image; create your unique image starting with your business card and your photo." Make sure it conveys a sense of who you are now, and that what you convey with your projections~cards, handouts, etc. say "Quality."

It was St. Patricks Day!  In Chicago the river ran green.  At our seminar, green eggs and ham were served. And our speaker was dressed in green from head to toe.

You're welcome!

Thanks for being the first to comment!  Back to basics it is.  The thing I took away, listening to the realtors in the room (most of the attendees were agents) is how I can apply these principles to helping my realtors as my customers.

Hi Mike, It looks like a simple list, but it takes a lot of thought to implement each one.  I liked the IdeaMagic Website and love MJ's title "Chief Idea Officer"!  Thanks for sharing the information, it sounds like it was a great presentation.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for posting the Champagne Marketing Tips on your blog.  And thanks to those who have visited www.ideamagic.com

These marketing ideas have worked extremely well for my business and for the hundreds of clients that we have served for the last 17 years in Tucson.

Stay tuned for more fun seminars in the future.

Thanks to the nice folks at Landmark Title Assurance Agency on Kolb for providing the space and especially to my friend Criag Cunningham for putting this all together.

I like this gal - and the green Irish Suit!  Sure won't forget her anytime soon. It would be nice to see her up in Phoenix.  She's got some good solid advice - right on!

I like the fact that she did not try to overstate the case. Many times people who train make it more complicated to show off their knowledge rather than boiling it down to its essence.
