Gates Pass Sunrise: Tucson, Arizona

Sunrise In Gates Pass, Tucson, AZ

It's a sunrise photo ~ not a sunset.  We've had cloud cover and rain this past week, and I greeted the day on Saturday at Gates Pass, all the way out at the west end of Speedway Blvd.  "Red sky in morning, sailor take warning" was an apt saying for our day.  A front moved in, and it started raining last night.  Today, Sunday, it's still raining, and I think it's time for an afternoon nap!

Mike,

Great!

We're use to your sunsets in the morning, not sunrises in the afternoon. Ecliptic comes to mind. >:)

Mike:

I am glad you explained that because I thought it was a sunset.  Very beautiful.

Marcia,

It was a beautiful morning.  Here's the whole picture.

Claudette,

That's just what I thought while I was shooting the photos!

Bill,

Now that I've had a good nap, I'm back to blogging.  Thanks for stopping by.

Jo,

Yes they are!  The sunrises are beautiful too, when we have cloud cover.

Cynthia,

Don't you know the country song "I've got oceanfront property in Arizona...?"

Lenn,

I'll send you the originals.

Mara,

Thanks for being the first to comment!

Mike,

Glad you clarified that. Looks like a sunset, which means that you have gorgeous sunrises, too. :)

Absolutely beautiful, and yes I would have thought myself this was a sunset.

Not a palm tree in sight!  ;^D   This is my favorite of the bunch.  Love all the little silhouettes of the branches and bushes, in addition to the cacti.

No sailors in Arizona. Maybe the saying should be- Red sky in Gates Pass, cowboys rain to last

Ah, so beautiful Mike - I hadn't thought of that saying in years....

Another unbelievable shot, Mike!  Beautifully done.  I used to do some sailing and paid a lot of attention to what was happening in the sky.

I think you could change the name of your blog to:  Fire in the Sky  :-)

Have a great day!

Debi,

Thanks for stopping by.

Deanne,

LOL!

Doreen,

The long thin Ocotillo show well against the morning sky, don't they?

Lynda,

I knew that would be the case as soon as I saw what I had on the camera!

Steve,

Yes we do!

I love how after it rains, the ocotillo suddenly come to life with leaves and flowers.  So pretty.

ActiveRain needs to learn how to spell ocotillo.  They wanted to change it to some strange things...

OMG, simply GORGEOUS--both shots!  I would have, at first glance, guessed it was sunset though--glad you set us straight on that front!

Have a wonderful Thursday...

We get some good ones when it's cloudy in the morning!

Dagny,

Glad to spread the beauty!  LOL

Debe,

I knew people would think it was a sunset unless I said so; thanks for commenting.

Doreen,

You and that spellcheck!  LOL

Steve,

Thanks for the feature!

William,

Thanks for saying so!  One of these days I'll get a real camera.  Have to do some more loans first...
