Sunset In Tucson: Giant Saguaros and Palm Trees

Twilight in Tucson, Arizona

We've had some beautiful sunsets this week in Tucson.

Palm trees aren't native to the Arizona Sonoran Desert, but they thrive here if they have access to water.  I like the juxtaposition of the Palm Trees in the foreground with the Saguaro Cacti against the backdrop of the Tucson Mountain Range.

If you haven't planned a visit, right now might be the time to do that!

That is a beautiful picture. I love palm trees as it reminds me of India.

Mike-  One of these days you will need to teach me how to take such beautiful pictures.  See you on Tuesday.

Gary,

It would be my pleasure!  Congrats on getting our Tempe office up and running.

Gita,

Thanks for being the first to comment.

I was just looking at the weather channel for the Philadelphia area, and you're getting socked with snow again!  Come on out for a visit.

Mike, the lighting and color is fantastic. I didn't expect to see palm trees in Arizona. Thanks.

Bill,

Thanks for saying so; much success to you today!

Michael,

Paul Harvey used to say that he felt like he was home when he saw palm trees out of the airplane window on final for Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.

Green O'Lina,

Yes you do!

Larry,

Thanks for your kind words; I appreciate encouragement, and you do it so well!

Good Grief!!!

I thought I'd lost my mind.

I looked and said to myself, are Palm Trees indigenous to that area???????

Mike - wow - what a stunning photo and it is very interesting to have both the palm trees and the saguarros.

This is a postcard to sell.  What magnificent colors.

You know, that's the only thing a palm tree is good for in Arizona.  A silhouette in a sunset...

Doreen,

As a kid in South America, I relied on certain palms for their fruit, and the interior walls of our home were made of boards created from split palm.  I haven't seen anyone in Arizona using them though...

Jane,

Thanks for stopping by to say so!

Jeff,

We even have Cactus Police here in Arizona!  Seriously.  They hunt down and arrest Cactus Rustlers.

Robert,

Thanks for stopping by to comment!  I thought the pallete might be to your liking.

Renee,

Thanks!  I figure you have more on your mind that the kitchen window.  LOL

Karen,

You're coming out to Phoenix for a visit?  Keep me informed!

Sharon,

Thanks!  When we landscaped our yard a decade ago, I hired a landscape architect who has the same opinion of Palm Trees as Doreen in comment #20.  He didn't like 'em, and we didn't use 'em.

Lenn,

You weren't incorrect; they are not indigenous.  (But ~ LOL ~ that doesn't prove you haven't lost it...)

Tony,

You're welcome!

Debi,

I have a Sony flatscreen here at home, and the photo looks as it does in the viewfinder of my camera on this screen.  When I got to work, though, my company computer has an ACER display, and the entire photo was much darker on that display.

Did not mean to say they are not good and useful in other places.  They just don't belong here in Arizona...

I think I warned you a long time ago about my palm tree rant.  I haven't even started!  LOL!!!

Doreen,

What I want to know is how you first came to dislike them.  :)

The very first problem is they make NO shade!  That, in my mind, is a waste of a tree, in Arizona.

Posted by Doreen McPherson, Phoenix Arizona Real Estate ~ (Homesmart ~ Scottsdale ~ Tempe) over 10 years ago

Hi Mike.............hey where'd ya get the pretty postcard ;-)  I really love this one, somehow it speaks to me and makes me want to be there.  Very, very nice!

BarbaraJo,

I hadn't thought of that story in a coon's age.  Thanks for the memory!

Gail,

You'll want to act on that prompting!

Doreen,

I've learned to stand in the shade of a telephone pole in summer; I don't mind 'em.  :)
