Great Day For This Lender On Virtual ReBarCamp!

Virtual rebarcamp

Thank you, Tucson Kent!

My phone rang at 7:10 or thereabouts, and it was my friend Kent Simpson on the other end.

"Are you going to be ReBarCamping today?"

I hadn't planned on it.  I think I'd relegated the event to real estate agents, since most of what's written on Active Rain (that I've read) has been written by REALTORs.

Mike MuellerI figured I'd better check it out, and boy, am I glad I did!  Mike Mueller's session on FaceBook was an eye-opener.  I'm not all that savvy when it comes to FaceBook, but the session (and another later in the morning) gave me a roadmap to make better use of this powerful social medium.

I recognized many Active Rain REALTOR friends on the chat page during the session, but the only lender I ran into was our own Sunstreet Mortgage manager, Bryant Keefe.  Bryant had signed up for Brad Andersohn's session on blogging.

It didn't take long to figure out the virtual format, with one window open to the current presentation, and another open to the corresponding chat room.  The system wasn't flawless, but it was pretty darn good!

In between sessions, I fielded two new loan referrals and an accepted purchase contract.  The day just seemed to fly!

My last session of the day was Pat Kitano's presentation, which you can bone up on if you missed it.  He embedded his powerpoint presentation in his Active Rain blog prior to the Virtual ReBarCamp!

I'm doing this again next time!

I know exactly what you mean, the presentations on FACEBOOK were so detailed and thought provoking, great ways to increase our professional appearance on the web.  See you at the next REBAR camp!

Happy New Year!

I am glad you made it over.  I enjoyed Mike.. and many others!  It was well worth the time.

Hi Mike!  I scheduled to attend and then had a buyer come into town and missed the WHOLE thing today!  I'm glad you enjoyed it and can't wait to hear all of the 'reports' about it!  There's so much to learn out there and folks are so generous to share their knowledge with those willing to learn!

Hi Mike - I spent all day at my conputer, bouncing from room to room to catch all of the sessions that I most wanted.  Thank goodness for the intermissions, though, so I could make some quick calls and catch up on a few emails between sessions.  I took pages of notes and will be implementing some of the new stuff I learned ASAP!

Susan,

I recognized your face in more than one chat room.  With all the sessions, there were some I didn't get to, and I'm looking forward to reading your blog and others.

Debe,

I'm a convert!  See you next time.

Joan,

Yes it was!  Thanks for stopping by.

MaryBeth,

You can count on it!

Yep I decided to go attend at the last minute - and for the most part i enjoyed it - lots of good info - and free! I just didn't think I'd be spending my first day at work doing that!

Mike, I was able to attend the first 4 presentations. Then a phone call came in...

I  thought it was excellent and will attend the next one. So much easier than the travel, hotel and meals and the information was exactly what you would get at a REBar camp without the party afterwards.

Missy,

I looked online to see if there was a meetup afterwards for Tucson, but no such luck.  The price was right for the day, though!

Michael,

It was good to see you there; I hope the day was useful for you.

Margaret,

Me too.

Liz,

It was more useful than I expected; I'll do it again!

Mike,

Mike Mueller is always very good! But, other than his presentation I didn't enjoy this program. There was no interaction! I'm all about people, we learn best from people, from the inter action of people! Even when the moderator got involved this format was a disappointment.

I had two ideas, if they could included a small live audience or un-muted a select group and alow interaction.

I admit I gave up after 5 hours.

Disappointed.

Bill,

I understand your frustration, and there's nothing that takes the place of give and take in a learning situation.  I like both your ideas; toot that horn!

janeAnne,

I'll look for you!

Mike:  I only was in for the afternoon sessions and I had a hard time getting in because it was full, then it wasn't.  What program I finally got into I enjoyed.  No need for interaction for me like Bill was mentioning.  They talk, I process it, then run with the ideas.

GOOD MORNING MIKE!  I attended this one as well - it was my first one.  It was hard to pick which "webinars" to be a part of - but I ultimately settled on a few and enjoyed them!  Except - I didn't pay attention to the "time zone" and logged on about an hour early the first time!  And I got to stay in my PJs all day!  Couldn't ask for more! Glad it was so wonderful fo you and that Kent called ya about it! I've got to meet you both in person this year! -- Gab

Gabrielle,

You weren't alone in the time zone thing.  I was logged on and ready to go about 70 minutes early, and the chatbox was full of others who did the same thing.  LOL

Lyn,

There were some glitches; one person chatted that it was to be expected with "pioneer stuff."  All in all, a great day IMHO.

I had exactly the same reaction to the FB session!  I was shocked at how much I didn't know.  Go figure.  I should have not been so surprised.....It's me.....always so much more to learn!

Mike,

I attended a few sessions and am looking forward to the recording when it's ready so that I can reveiw the rest....it was an amazing camp and I'm looking forward to the onein April!

I got a lot out of this and the first one too.

It is interesting you would think it was for real estate agents.  Did you go to the one session for the mortgage industry... title had the word stalkers in it?  You do a good job with this social media thing so I am sure none of the real estate agents in your market think of you as a stalker,

Posted by Maureen McCabe, Columbus Ohio Real Estate (HER Realtors) over 9 years ago

Maureen,

Connecting with RE agents without stalking them...  or something like that.  I did attend that one; it was the only session of the day that had technical difficulties, and we couldn't hear the speaker half the time.  I enjoyed the day, though!

Jo,

Ditto!  Hope you're staying warm up there in the northern climes.

Irene,

It was a great day, wasn't it?  I'm looking forward to April.

gosh I hope they recorded it and the recording is hearable. I am not sure how that works with webinars.   I wanted to listen to see if I am being stalked and just don't know it...
