I LOVE the desert.  AZnd, that is one of the most beautiful desert photographs I think I have ever seen.  How great that you were able to capture that exact photo at that time of the morning.

Great way to start 2010, Mike! I couldn't get a good sunrise shot this morning, but still have some blue moon over the Strip photos to look through. Your pics are a great motivator for me to keep my camera ready. Happy New Year!

I looked everywhere last night for the bluemoon. I couldn't find it anywhere! That is an awesome picture!

Last night I saw the beautiful Blue Moon! And wanted to take a photo too! Glad you did! Instead, I enjoyed with my twins..couldn't get the camera in time. Thanks for the photo. Happy New year!

Lovely image. I had the same idea but, alas, the cloud cover was too thick.  Nineteen years?  I think I'll still be at it then and I'll get that shot from the Valley of the Moon...to share with you.

Blue or made out of Cheese it still looks great. Have a wonderful 2010.

The night before my wife and I got a beautiful bright orange moonset over the Pacific Ocean. It happens a few times a year just as the sun is rising and the moon is setting. Sometimes it's hard to discern which one's the moon and which ones the sun. I'm only sorry I didn't get a pic of it. Good going. Next time I'll be more on the ball.

Nice image, I tried to take it over the cimarron mountains but the camera  had a dead battery. Bummer

I got to see the blue moon last night but honestly did pay that much attention. I was too busy shooting off fireworks and then using the mortar bases for target practice. LOL. Happy New Year!

Mike - This is a terrific shot.  I was surprised to see the full moon last night, then even more surprised to hear that it was a blue moon.  :)

It is a beautiful picture, Mike...but can anyone explain what a "blue moon" is? It's one of those  phrases that I've heard all my life, but never bothered to find out exactly what it refers to or what it means...

Mike, I had no idea I was admiring a blue moon when my husband and I were driving to our Sun City West New Years eve party.  It was beautiful!

Mike - A great photo of the blue moon.  In Toronto, I saw a hazy blurry blue moon around 11 pm on New Year's Eve.  I was lucky to see it given all the rain we had that day.

I have noticed the beauty of the moon for last couple of days and had read about the "blue moon" phenomenon. But, your photo of it in the desert setting is particularly intense and beautiful.
