Life's Not Fair: While The East Coast Is Buried Under Two Feet Of Snow...

Mule Deer doe is checking me out.

I used to tell my kids "Life's not fair." Not that I mind...

While the east coast is trying to dig out of the biggest snowstorm in recent memory, I spent my Saturday afternoon hiking in the desert behind our home in the Tucson Mountains.

Days like this--when we don't worry about owning a snow shovel--are why we moved from New Jersey to Tucson.  The temperature today hit a high of 70 degrees, and the entire sky was robin egg blue.

This mule deer doe was as surprised as I was when we found ourselves 50' away from each other.  She had company.  I counted four more as they melted away into the desert brush.

Thanks for stopping by to visit; I knew you would enjoy this one!

Your picture is beautiful and it looks like your day was, too.

Last I heard, we had 20.8 inches of snow and I, for one, am loving every minute of it.  'Plenty to do at home and no one expecting me to be anywhere else.  In a few days, it will get old... and dirty... but right now it is beautiful out there.

Great picture as always. Did you read my blog post about having mixed emotions about telling the people in the colder states about our weather?

Deanne,

Not yet, but I'll be right over.

Margaret,

It's great to see you!  I love snow...  in other people's photos.  LOL

Lou,

Thanks for being the first to comment!

Sounds like a wonderful day there and hopefully plenty more to come. We are having record cold here in the Florida panhandle.

Mike,

I had to double check if I had stumbled onto the weather network here.

Terrific photo -- they are so neat to come across -- recently Bob came across about a dozen not far from us -- beautiful.

Mike, that is one of the things that I really liked about AZ this time of the year. The weather is gawgis. I find it interesting that many of the desert animals have bigger ears that their counterparts on the east coast...

Mike,

What a beautiful photo...I would love to move to Tucson and perhaps one day we will.

I used to tell my sons the same thing 'There's no such word as fair'.

Lives not fair at times but how can you say no to 74 and sunny in winter. Hope all is well Mike.

Oh man... nice shot and I don't miss snow though I do like for it to get chilly enough to have a fire in the fireplace now and then!

Russell,

Thanks!  It does get chilly enough in the evening for a fire in the chiminea on the ramada.

Richard,

It's good to see you; thanks for coming by to comment.

Jo,

LOL!  And we'd love to show you Tucson one of these days.  You're invited to dinner at our home.

Michael,

Those ears are HUGE, aren't they?  We love it here.

Carolin,

That must have been spectacular!  I've never seen that many at one time down here.

Terry,

We do our part...  LOL

Joyce,

It's Florida.  Hot and sunny soon.

Mike, we are so fortunate to be blessed with such good weather - I love Arizona! Even in the heat! I'll take it any day instead of snow. Great photo! ;-)

Merry Christmas

It's like you live in a wild life preserve.  What a beautiful shot.  She does have some big ears...

Doreen,

The ears are huge!  You're right; it's like living in a wildlife preserve.  Thanks for stopping by.

Teri,

Isn't that the truth?!  Our kids were buried under two feet of the white stuff, and the east coast airports were closed.

My mom always told me "Life's not fair". And it's true... unfortunately. But not ALl of the east coast is under snow ;-)  At least the south-east isn't.  =)

I see our weather is taking a turn for the worse.  It may not even hit 60 on Christmas here.  What's the forecast for Tucson?  That's where I'll be...

Posted by Doreen McPherson, Phoenix Arizona Real Estate ~ (Homesmart ~ Scottsdale ~ Tempe) over 9 years ago

Doreen,

We have a snow advisory today for the Sky Island mountains, and rain for the valley starting this afternoon and continuing on through the night.  I hadn't looked at the forecast; we'll be in Prescott!

Lisa,

Your Mom is a wise woman!  We're glad you're not blanketed with snow.

Mike - yes, that mule deer is beautiful standing in the brush ... but the sight of 8 beautiful does standing at the edge of a snow rimmed pond ... well, I guess there's still enough Yankee in me to appreciate that.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to get my camera into position before they took off.  :(

Ohhh!  Enjoy that trip to Prescott.  I will be just beautiful up there!  Especially if it snows!

Doreen,

The sun's just setting here in Prescott, and we're headed for Clarkdale and the Verde Valley Train tomorrow morning.  Merry Christmas!

Carol,

Merry Christmas!  I wish you had gotten that shot.
