Located near the I-10 freeway on Grant Road is a commercial property presently for sale. It's a meat-packing plant that's been closed for several years.
The concrete block wall that surrounds it on three sides is nearly half a mile in length, and the entire wall has been painted with a mural that features cowboys, their cows, and life in the desert southwest.
Graffiti is starting to take its toll on the mural, so I spent a morning photographing it. I particularly like this piece of the mural because of the live plant growing in front of the wall. It looks like the cows have decided to munch on it.
More later...

Mike,
THis has such a real life quality about it! Wonderful photo.
Hi Mike, I am a fan of Murals and Austin has a large number of very interesting examples too!
I like the murals. Thank you for sharing.
Mike,
Talk about the perfect placement of a bush. Thanks for sharing.
very cool photo/painting..........we have several here like that - and they're always eyecatching!
I love murals too.
I find it charming to see murals decorating the sides of buildings
Wow Mike! That's way too cool! I just love to see the works of talented folks. I always envisioned myself as artistic, but when I try to paint or draw ... well there is an obvious occlusion between my brain, my eyes, and my hands. LOL
Mike, I am sure someday you will be so thankful you took the time to photograph these murals. Thank you for sharing. I noticed yesterday when I was down town that the murals seems to be fading on several of the buildings. Great idea to photograph them. May be a good Sunday project.
Mike - That's a really nice mural. I wonder if those cows would like to come and live with the California Happy Cows?
Mike, I agree with Kim. Good idea to get them documented for the future. The new owner probably won't see the history or the value of these.
Mike, art always makes walls look better. When you can integrate the landscaping, it's even better.
Sharon,

Kim,
Blog about it if you follow through on the photos. Thanks for commenting.
Carol,
I looked all along the wall, and can't find a place where the artist signed it. A mystery that needs solving.
Lenn,
You and I both!
Liz,
It is, isn't it! Thanks for stopping by.
Don,
It's happenstance, like so much in life. Serendipity.

You're most welcome!
Russell,
I'd like to see some of Austin's murals on your blog.

GOOD MORNING MIKE! Having seen this mural many, many times - I have to say that this is the best view of it yet! With all "opportunities" for graffiti in Tucson I am happy that this particular mural hasn't been tagged over the years! -- Gabrielle
Gab,
Grafitti is taking a toll on the old meat packing plant. I've got an entire series of photos on the mural, and I'll be sharing them this month. Thanks for commenting.

HI MIKE! Oh no! Say it isn't so! How disappointing! I will be sure to follow the series - it's a great one - you teach me so much about the west and northwest side of Tucson! -- Gabrielle
