When you think of the desert southwest, clear sunny skies come to mind. Twice a year, though, our mountains are wreathed with clouds, and the result is striking.
Fog on the mountain? It happens during the summer monsoons and (sometimes) in our short December rainy season.
May is the month when Saguaro cacti bloom. The blossom is Arizona's state flower.
The monsoons are coming early this year, they say. Last week, we had three days of rain in a row. It's unusual for that to happen in May.
We'll take every drop!

Hey Mike, well I've been away from the Rain for far too long! I've missed your gorgeous photo's and the networking. Had Bob Stewart in to teach a class at my office and he's inspired me again to play in the Rain! I scrolled through your most recent posts, I hope Ginny is feeling better and congrats on your walking! I love the motivation you've got to keep you going! Love the flowers on the cactus! Take care ~S
Mike, good to see that the picture upload is working again. Really had me frustrated yesterday. I do agree with you that the saguaro cactus bloom is just gorgeous...

Sandy,
Thanks for catching up! I miss your Mom in the office, and hope they get back soon from North Dakota.

What a wild photo with the fog!
I've never seen a catus flowering like that.
Thanks for sharing those photos.
Who pasted my daisies on your cactus ? I thought you could send us some sunshine...guess not this week, hmmm ? Well....it's a good excuse to working and homade soup...don't feel like you should be outside playing....blog on...
Mike,
That's an erry morning!
Fogs and clouds are things of great beauty, but have a strange affect when you're in them. It doesn't seem to matter how you experience them. Boater, pilot, camper, driver or just living on a mountain it doesn't matter they're gorgeous and fascinating to look at but erry to be enveloped in.

Mike... As always what a GREAT shot! We spent the Holiday weekend up in Williams and the setting was simply beautiful. On our way back, if there wasn't all the traffic as you come down sunset mountain, the saquaro in bloom was beautiful.
Thanks for sharing!

Keep the good pics coming!!! Thanks, Fran
Mike,
Wonderful potos! We are actually getting some much needed rain in Texas..we just need more of it! Thanks for sharing!!
I have driven across your state several times now. My in laws live in southern California and we drive out instead of fly and stop to see the sights along the way with out kids over the years. There is nothing more beautiful than the desert after a lot of rain in spring. I bet it's going to turn beautiful. Hope you will share some photos.
Hi Mike: Are you sure you didn't just have your hand over the lens cover? Just kidding.
:)
Matt,
You found me out! LOL
Tammy,
You can be sure of it! Call if you drive through Tucson on Interstate 10!
Dorie,
Love the rain! Thanks for stopping by to comment.
Fran,
You bet!
Terry,
We love the monsoon season!
Cheron,
Did you take the train up to the Grand Canyon? We do that with the grandkids.
Bill,
When I'm flying, being in the clouds is like being inside a milk bottle. (I know. Who remembers milk in a bottle anymore?!)
Sally,
It's 100 and sunshine today; the rain was last week. Clouds build on hot monsoon days, though, and in the afternoon we're treated to rolling thunderstorms.
Toula,
You need to come visit, girl!
Dan,
We absolutely LOVE the monsoons!
