Inviting Entrance...

Inviting entrance to a southwestern home in Tucson Estates 2, Tucson, AZ

The early morning light illuminating the front door caught my eye on this morning's walk.  The two downlights incorporated into the entrance wall must be beautiful at night, shining soft puddles of light on the cactus and the walkway.

The arch is mesquite.  The sentinel saguaros have "welcome duty" this morning.

Wouldn't you love to vacation here?

The only mesquite we see around here is in coals grilling meat for Mexican restaurants.

That gnarled wood has a lot of character.

Interesting.

Mike - That's just another one of your beautiful pictures.  AND, what is "pudding light"???  I know I've asked this before, but what kind of camera is it that you have?

Hi Mike,

We have been busy with company and i missed a couple of blogs - trying to catch up with you.

Nice entry - is that one forsale or just a nice photo?  I hope your dentist fixed you up.  When's that vaction?

Posted by Kathie Morgan about 10 years ago

Kathie,

We're leaving for Oklahoma to work cattle tomorrow, and will be back in Tucson on Monday the 27th.  This lovely home is not for sale or rent (that I know of.)  And John Carson, DDS is fantastic.  I should write a post about what a great dentist he is.

Don,

Come on down!

Myrl,

The camera is a Panasonic Lumix ($200 or so at Costco.)  The word I used was puddling, and I went back and edited the text of the post to make it a little clearer.  Thanks for commenting.

Nice shot, Mike, and what a great entrance!  A lot of thought went in to that one.  I really like the adobe architecture of your area.

Have fun in Oklahoma.  I grew up out in the panhandle and my "Daddy" still lives in Woodward.

Marlene,

The saguaros look washed out in the early morning light, don't they?  The shot may be a little overexposed, but I wanted the entrance door to come out of the shadows.  I love the gnarled mesquite arch.  We're leaving in the morning for a cattle roundup in Caddo, OK.  When I get back, I'll try to get an evening photo.

Jennifer,

Thanks for subscribing; I enjoy your blog too!

Fran,

I look forward to your visit!

Doreen,

In ten days or so; we're off on holiday, as my Canadian friend says.  :)

Rebecca,

Thanks for visiting!

Terry,

I look at it this way:  you spend three months indoors because it's too cold.  We do the same in the summer because its too hot.  In the evenings, though, the desert cools, and we come out of our cool caves to enjoy the bug-free evenings after the sun goes down.  It grows on you.

Sally,

Sounds like you need to visit!

Sharon,

The colors, the architecture, the plantings all say "desert southwest."  Congrats on moving past the 500K mark in the Rain!

Kate,

You come back any time!  I sure appreciate the encouragement.

Gab,

Now that you say so, it does look like gelato from Frost!

Mike.

Thanks!  Whoopee-ti-yi-yo!

Montana,

You'll need to sign your name so we know what to properly call you.  LOL  Thanks for commenting.

Hi Mike—It's incredible the architectural design that's achieved in adobe... one of my favorite building materials. The zeroscaping at the entry and throughout this yard is beautiful... my kind of place. Morning walks and the things we discover on the way is an extra benenfit I couldn't do without. My mom grew up on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma. Hope you have a great trip - Thanks!

Very cool. I like the stark beauty of the desert look and the surprisingly brightly colored plants that accent the entrance!
