Networking & Making Friends: Just Because YOU Don't Like Her...

Photo on Michael Thornton's Active Rain blog

I subscribe to Michael Thornton's blog.  He takes some amazingly beautiful photos, uses color in his text, writes in such a way as to engage his audience, and never, never leaves you bored.

This photo from Michael's contest entry (titled Spring Fresh: ‘Tis Spring - Spring Fresh Contest)  makes my point.

It doesn't matter who you are, or whether you found this page by accident.  You can't look away from that image.

I can think of twelve or more different posts I could write with that photo as the anchor.  I won't do it, though; it's Michael's photo.

I want to know if this is his grandchild, and if so, where Grandma was while Michael was adjusting the focus on his camera.

Click the link and go comment on his post.  Tell him I sent you.  Tell him enquiring minds want to know more...

Hi Mike - I smiled and laughed even before the "eeeewwww factor" kicked in. Wonderful photo... AND questions you ask! I'll have to cruise on over to Michael Thornton's blog, and thanks for the prompt.

My daughters have done things with this, but with the dog.  A few years ago I heard my daughters laughing and snuck into the room (in attempts to catch them in the act) and they were chewing up their snack and opening their mouths and having the dogs finish off the remains.  They thought this was hilarious...I did not.

Mike, I hear pigs are very clean. Hope the animal didn't catch any germs. Wow, what a funny photo Michael had for us all.

Mike,

Even when you borrow photos their great.

Kids know no fear and friendly is friendly without regards to looks. Don't you wish we never out grew that attitude.

I'm goint to take a look at Michael's work.

Thanks for the heads up.

Mike, when my children were young we lived on a farm. I kept them far away from the hog pen. Frankly I'm more alarmed by the safety issues than germs. Hogs can be VERY aggressive.

Mike, thanks for the plug. No, this is not my grandchild. Mine were running ahead. I just turned around and caught this purely by chance thanks to auto focus... BTW - no color today, I am in Huston and am working off my PC. I do all my posts on my MAC which gives me the ability to do stuff I cannnot do with my laptop...

Mike,
That is a great photo however, I bet "Mom" lost it when she saw it!  I'm on my way to visit Michael.

Cynthia,

I imagine so!

Michael,

Thanks for clearing that up!  This photo of yours should win some sort of award, but I'm not sure what.  LOL

Richard,

That's a photo worthy of a post on AR.

Jesse,

My thoughts exactly!

Paula,

Isn't that the truth?!

Kent,

Thanks for coming by to comment!  Love your caption.

Randy,

That's what I thought when I saw it!

Vickie,

There is a comedian whose line is "I haven't had that much fun since the hogs ate little brother."  I can't remember his name.

Bill,

You're welcome!  I have 10 grandkids, and pretty much any one of them could be the little kid in the photo.

Gary,

I love your take on the poor pig!

Christine (or Jennifer)

We raised enough of our own to identify with you.  Thanks for commenting.

Karen,

The eeewww factor!  That about sums it up.

Dustin,

Yup!

Alexsandra,

Michael Thornton just commented, and I'm off to his blog to see what you had to say there.

That picture is absolutely priceless!

Adds a whole new meaning to "kissing the pig."  LOL

Thanks for the chuckle.  I'll have that vision stored on my brain all day!

Cute photo!  Makes me think of how most of us are with our dogs - one minute they're out in the yard eating something nasty and the next minute they're in the house licking us in the face!  :-)

Hi Mike - You're so right.  That is one of the most engaging photos.  I love the look of total glee on that little one's face!  Thanks for the tip on Michael Thornton.  I'm headed there now to read and subscribe.

Oh my goodness!  I've seen my grandkids get "kissed" by dogs and cats, but never a PIG.  I'd almost think it would be easier to make a new kid, than clean an old kid up, after such an event:-)

I cannot imagine my child, grandchild, or anyone else in this position.  Great photo  BUT that is nasty!  I was raised on a farm and live on one.  That is a NO-NO.

Tony,

That's the best title yet:  Kiss of a lifetime!

Jim,

Hang onto your kids around the livestock.  LOL

Marlene,

I think Thornton's going to pick up eight or ten subscribers today!

Mike,

Somehow we don't recoil so much when it's the family dog...

Mike-How funny, just yesterday I took my son to a animal shelter, and he met Rosie the pig at the shelter. Rosie nearly scared my son to death as she got up on her rear legs to great my son. It was a really fun time for my son.
