Last Tuesday night. Too late getting home from the office. Tuesday was rough. Three hours in the dentist's chair, phone lines down at the office most of the day, but as the sun faded across the Tucson Mountains, none of that seemed to matter any more. This was a "weary soul" moment. (If you've been in the Rain for any length of time, that last will make sense, and you'll be familiar with the name Sally Cheeseman. If you're new, click the link.)
There's something about the light in the western sky that makes me want to spend another lifetime as an artist, taking lessons from God's paintbrush techniques. I just had to pull over to the side of the road with flashers going and capture this to share with you.
Thanks for stopping by; it's always good to see you!

Fantastic catch, Mike. God certainly paints a beautiful canvas for us, doesn't he?
Jesse,
Amen to that. He does it somewhat fancier up there in the Arctic, what with the Northern Lights and all. Thanks for being the first to comment.

Mike, Beautiful colors and shot. I too want to come back as an artist so that I can capture such vibrant colors. Have a great Easter Weekend...

Those little specs of light appear to be homes with families settling in for the evening. Perhaps dinner time??
We are visiting family in North Carolina and its raining here nice to see the sunset.
Mike,
The techniques that GOD uses when painting the sky the way HE does is amazing isn't it?
Mike,
I wish I could offer you the same pick-me-up this morning that you've provided the rest of us!
Three hours with the Dentist is bad enough. But, with the phone lines down you probably need the narcotics.
Hope today goes better, mine started well thanks to you. Say hello to Sally for me.
Bill
Bill,
It was a GREAT dentist last Tuesday. I recommend him without reservation--Dr. John Carson in Tucson. The phone lines thing drove me to distraction, but it's all up and running, and I had a closing on Thursday and another one today. It will be a great day, if only I can remember who Sally is... :)
Don,
Yes, HE does some amazing sunsets!
Terry,
Always glad to oblige.
Lenn,
It was just after 7:00 in the evening here, and those little specs of light are headlights of oncoming cars. Thus the need for flashers. I turned off my headlights for the camera shot so I wouldn't pick up the road in front of me.
Michael,
God bless you and yours this Easter weekend!

Mike - Another great shot. You could sell this to the masses for some real moeny.
Stunning photo Mike! What a gorgeous sunset! Made up for the dentist, huh?
Debi
WOW! I ahve been taking some nice shots from my back deck lately but this is absolutely SPECTACULAR!
Beautiful shot, Mike. It looks similar to your blog header. Those deep reds and yellows are sometimes difficult to capture, but worth it when you do.
Mike,
This absolutley looks like a painting, and the colors are so vibrant and intense. :)
Steve
Simply Gorgeous!
Mike,
Sunrises & sunsets are the parentheses that are more spectacular than what they contain within...!!! Thanks, Fran
wow this is breathtaking, wouldn't it be wonderful to paint using God's hands??
Goregous shot, Mike! Absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes nature is just what the doctor ordered.
Carol,
Or, as Ben Franklin would have said, "the God of nature." Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment. See you on your blog.
Kate,
Hey, stranger!! It's good to see you. I'd like Him to paint using MY hand. :)
Fran,
That's deep! Thanks for commenting.
Sylvia,
Vielen dank!
Steve,
It does, doesn't it?!
Mike,
That's only the second time in 2009 that I've seen those deep reds. The orange and yellow are beautiful too, but they're the usual sunset when the sky has clouds. And pinks. The deep reds are my favorite.
Russell,
Gotta love Arizona!
Debi,
Yes it does! Thanks for stopping by.
Larry,
Now there's an idea! I need to set up an artist's card shop on the internet.
Leolinda,
I'm the one to thank YOU! Thanks!!

Another great shot, Mike! And well worth pulling over, engaging the flashers and risk life & limb for the photo! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Mike,
Those are very beautiful sunset colors. I also love the car's headlights contrasting with the mountains in the darkness. It's like the mountains have eyes and are looking at you. Thanks for sharing and happy Easter!
Another masterful moment, Mike - seems like you might have some sort of pipeline to the guy upstairs for when he's providing spectacular beauty for you to capture. Happy Easter my friend!
"Your very welcome my friend!"
Robert,
You're a gracious guy.
Kent,
You're another gracious guy. All the best.
Gerry,

Another amazing painting by Mother Nature. Absolutely Gorgeous!!
Hi Mike—Viewing photos like these make my heart go, "lub-a-dub!" I appreciate your photograhy of the Arizona desert... always amazing the vibrancy of the colors you have there... of course, thanks to our Creator too! Hope things are looking up for you. Have a terrific weekend!
Mike - Now that's a stunning photo! I'm glad you stopped and captured it at the end of your busy day. I've got great sunsets every night here in Florida but the intensity of the colors in your photo are really amazing.
John,
Some nights are like that. Not most, though.
Linda,
God wields a mean paintbrush some nights! Thanks for commenting.
