My One Degree Challenge... Be My AR "Band of Brothers"

My goal for this week?  Watch this YouTube video at the start of each day and keep notes on what happens.  I'll blog about one result each day this week. Members Only!

Will you challenge yourself to do this with me?

EDIT:

Monday:  Phone lines down, but docs are out to title five days early.  A record!

Tuesday:  Phone lines up.  DSL down; no internet.  Three hours in the dentist's chair. Today was a struggle, and I didn't feel like I made enough steam to move the locomotive, but I took a new loan application.  The rest of you are encouraging to me.  Thanks!  (I'm opening this post from "members only" to public reading and commenting today.)

Wednesday: "The only thing that stands between a person and what they want in life is the will to try it and the faith to believe it is possible."  I think I must have ADD.  There are so many things that I really enjoy doing that it's easy to put something down for a moment and do something else.  My 212 degree moment for today is the realization that I can't do this with impunity any more than Tiger Woods can take off eight months from golf and not pay a price.  Today, each time I touched a file, I kept at what I was doing until it was done.  I can't afford to procrastinate for even ten minutes.

Thursday:  Up and out walking at 4:55 a.m.  GOOD MORNING, Gabrielle, and other early morning members of the Active Rain Fit Club group!  6:45, and I'm headed to the office.  It's a 45 minute commute each day, each way.  The morning commute includes a stop at Starbucks in the Albertsons on Speedway and Silverbell.  My extra degree this morning?  I'm going to ask for business while I'm standing in line waiting for my plain black coffee.  I'll let you know how it goes when I get home tonight.

10:00 p.m  I did ask for business today, and have two brand new loans in the pipeline as a result.  Active Rain provides a degree of "visibility" that I couldn't have imagined when I joined this network of blogging real estate professionals in July 2007.  Visibility and credibility.

Friday:  Second closing this week; things are definitely looking up.  I asked for business and got it.  One new mortgage application.  The 212 degree video has been a focus for me this week, and the focus works!  Thanks to each of you who participated; you're all winners in my book!

Mike, this piece is well-done. My intention is to add the viewing of this to my morning routine, such as it is. I'll pay attention to what happens, and I'll use notes to do it. Just purchased a composition book, so I'll use the first couple of pages to take notes.

Mike, good video, I am always amazed by the small difference in the olympics...  such a small amount makes such a difference, a huge difference...

Sports as in our business it is the practice and then bringing the preparation to the client to be successful. Very thoughtful presentation.

Mike,  Our pastor just finished a series of sermons on this very concept. I wonder if he watched the video. Good post...

Michael,

See if your pastor will participate.  Are his sermons on the web?

Terry,

Thanks for commenting at Oh Dark Thirty!  Are you in?

Joanne,

None of us need to make big changes.  The sports analogy in the video that Terry Westbrook referred to is much to the point.  I intend to refine and implement.  Thanks for commenting.

Sherry,

Thanks for being the first to comment, and to take up the challenge.  It's going to be a good week.

Hi Mike, do you send out reminders?? My early morning is so crazy... want to watch every morning and will put this on my list. ;-)

Mike,  I'll do my best to be here every morning  I must say I never realized the spresd in the Indy 500 was as great as it was - the winner had to be way out in front.  Excellent post  Karen

Karen,

The average margin of victory for the Indy 500 is only a litte more than one and one half seconds.  It's not much, but it makes all the difference.

Susie,

I'll blog about this every day as a reminder.  I'll be looking for you!

Mike,

Are you asking that we keep track of what happens each day and then blog about it or just respond to your post?

Don,

I'm asking that you view the 212 degree video each morning, and keep track of its effect on your day.

AWESOME video, Mike - I'm in!  It's the "little" things that make all the difference in the world, no matter what you're doing.

Mike,

Welcome!

Don,

Ditto!

It turns out that today itself was a challenge.  My phone lines went down.  Qwest forwarded everything to my cell, but that doesn't make the fax machine work.  In spite of that, we got docs out to title on a purchase in Sun City, AZ.  Thank you, Leolinda Bowers!

I won't blog tonight, but I watched the video twice this morning, and the one thing that stayed with me all day is how small the margin of victory is in many sports events.  Everyone's good, or they wouldn't be in the game.  A few are just a little better in the clutch.  That's what I want to be.  It's Monday, and docs are out to title for a closing that won't take place until Thursday.  That's 212 degrees!

Let's see. Can I spare 3 minutes and 36 seconds.....

Mike  I misread the Indy 500 time difference - I watched the video again - it was 1.54 Seconds.  Monday our refrigerator konked out.  Numerous calls to service companies resulted in "we can be there Thursday"  We kept trying and eventually found a firm that came out Monday evening.  Phew!!!  He'll return today with the necessary part.  The 212 degree aspect is we found this company about 2 minutes before their closing time,  Karen

Mike, yesterday I received an inquiry for a great agent in Sequim, based on a small blog on an out-of-the-usual webiste. I replied with my name, experience, specialty, and asked the usual followup Qs and then asked whether they'd like their buyers packet mailed to their home, or emailed. (Still waiting to hear back.)

I also received a call on my sister's house which had been listed over the weekend. I showed it. They love it, want to buy it, want to pay cash--as soon as their house in Fresno sells.  Any agents out there from Fresno? A great house is coming on the market.

Today (4/7/09)on AR I read some great blogs that have advice and educational links in them that I can put to immediate use. And yes, i watched the video again.

Michael,

Cool beans.

Sherry,

Good job!

Karen,

Life interrupts business, doesn't it?  My phone lines were up on Tuesday, and my DSL went down.  They will fix it this morning, they say.

Ann,

Thanks for jumping in!

Mike - That's a very inspiring post!  It is amazing what difference a degree can make, or a milli-second.  My kids were all competitive swimmers.  The youngest was California state ranked #1 as a butterflier in her age group.  It was amazing how many races she would win (or lose) by 1/100th of a second, or 3/100ths of a second.  Do you know what that represents. . .Less than an eyelash!

GOOD MORNING MIKE right back to ya!  Out for my run at 4:30 this morning thinking about this and here I am now watching the video - again!  I've lost a few run races and won some by less than a second - it's an amazing feeling either way.  But it was the effort and determination at the wire that keeps ya going.  I'm in! -- Gab

Back from the morning walk.  Being competitive is a great trait.  I'm glad to have you in the 212 degree bunch; thanks for commenting.

Wondering about this "Active Rain fit group" -- sounds very counter-intuitive. Blogging while working out?? Just a little joke here. It's late.

Tina,

It's rainy and dreary here in Tucson today as well.  We love the rain, though, because we don't get enough of it.  12" per year is the average.  Thanks for viewing the video and taking the time to comment.  See you on your blog.

Saw you over on Sherry Siegel's blog, and expected that you would show up here.  Isn't that video just downright great?!
